I’m From the interneT

NEVER LOG OFF

The Internet changed everything. Every single aspect of modern life, whether it is commerce, fashion, war, dating, porn, religion, agriculture, art, or crime, was revolutionized when the Internet was turned on, again when it was brought home, and once more when it was put into our pockets. However, most users were not online when the pillars of modern Internet culture were being erected, and due to the light-speed pace of memetic development, even more are unaware as to why the Internet looks, feels, and behaves the way it does. This is where I’M FROM THE INTERNET comes in, a podcast to inform, entertain, and shock listeners with tales of the Old Internet.

Hosted by Jay Brandstetter and Winslow Dumaine, this podcast explores how the culture of the Internet was created, how it changed its users, and how those users went on to influence the Internet we use today. With a combined five decades of experiences on different sides of the Internet, our diverse and insightful takes on the subjects are neither hopelessly blackpilled nor blindly futurist, but fresh, strange, and informative.

Jay Brandstetter is an internet historian and online content creator. In addition to a lifetime of firsthand research on the Something Awful forums and elsewhere, he created the popular Twitter account "crazy ass moments in Something Awful history", has over 100,000 views on YouTube, and over 3 million on TikTok. His ongoing work is The Greymuzzle Archives, a series of long-form interviews of elder members of the furry fandom.

Winslow Dumaine is a comedian and illustrator out of Chicago. He’s opened for Kyle Kinane, Dave Ross, and Sam Tallent, and toured with Derek Sheen. His debut work of fiction is The Tarot Restless, a hand illustrated deck of tarot cards and a book of short stories. He also created The Restless, a card game set during the final days of human extinction.
